Post' title: Think again before you travel to Alaska
"I hate to admit it, but not so many years ago it could easily have been me in the same kind of predicament. When I first started coming to Alaska, I think I was probably a lot like McCandless: just as green, just as eager. And I'm sure there are plenty of other Alaskans who had a lot in common with McCandless when they first got here, too. including many of his critics. Which is maybe why they're so hard on him. Maybe McCandless reminds them a little too much of their former selves" (Krakauer 185-186).
Topic: Inspiration
Even though many critics are saying that McCandless is a fool for doing such a dangerous risk, but probably many of the critics reminds them of their former selves. Roman the person that said this quote even said that he has experienced what McCandless was feeling as an eager young adult, even with all that Roman has accomplished. He admires what McCandless was trying to do because doing what he did is a very difficult thing to do and he almost pulled it off. I am inspired for what he has done because I know the family background from the Ted talks I saw and the struggles he faced as a young child and to put himself in such a dangerous position just amazes me. I think if it was me I would have been done the same thing McCandless has done because I love adventures and trying to do everything on my own. I hope many critics see McCandless's family background and the courage for his risk taking.
sorry I posted this on another blog last night and posted on here right now because I just realized it.

McCandless Offended Because He Was Offered Money?
Post Title: McCandless Offended Because He Was Offered Money?
"He acted real offended. I told him, "Man, you gotta have money to get along in this world,' but he wouldn't take it. Finally I got him to take some swiss Army knives and a few belt knives; I convinced him they'd come in handy in Alaska and that he could maybe trade them for something down the road." (Krakauer 46).
Topic: Travel Advice/Fool
Here, McCandless and Burres went to swap meet to buy some gear for McCandless's trip to Alaska. McCandless did not like to accept money from other people and he even feels offended when he was offered money by Burres. I believe that he is a fool for not taking the money he was offered because that one item could have saved his life in the Alaskan Wilderness but decided not to accept it and died from it. He should have been more prepared to go out into the harshest weather in the United States and he basically went out there to kill himself. I think that asking for money is not always the solution but if it is a situation where you need the money to survive, then I think it is acceptable. If he was not ignorant and listened to other people's opinions he probably could have survived in any situation but decided not to and his life came to an end at a young age.

The Family He Never Loved...
'Post' Title: The Family He Never Loved...
"From things he said, you could tell something wasn't right between him and his family, but I don't like to pry into other people's business, so I never asked about it" (Krakauer 18).
Topic: The Dynamics of Family
Here, it can be said that other people such as Westerberg realised that McCandless had problems with his family. Westerberg was correct with what he said because ever since McCandless was born he felt as if his parents did not what him to be born. This caused him to feel bad about himself and hated his parents since his parents didn't take him seriously. He decided that he is going to stay with them for about few months until his family thinks things are stabilized and then divorce them as his parents once for all and never speak to them ever again. I think that he changed his name to Alex because he didn't want to be found by his family and to live a quiet life in the wilderness. Even if Westerberg asked McCandless about his family he probably wouldn't have answered it due to the fact that he hated his parents and hoped to never see them again.
